Something isn't working. How do I report it?
We're so sorry to hear that you've encountered issues with the app! Please contact the Glean Member Support Team via email at appsupport@gleanapp.com, and we'll be more than happy to help!
If it’s urgent, please do feel free to flag it in the Community Feature as well.
It’s my first time doing resistance training. What should I know?
Don’t sweat it - quite literally! Resistance training isn’t like cardio where you’re expected to work up a high heart rate and sweat loads when you train. The reason for this is that we’re not using resistance training to lose weight, that comes from your nutrition and steps, we’re using it to improve our body composition and feel stronger.
That doesn’t mean you’re going to get muscular, unless that’s your desired goal, just that you will have enough strength to go about your daily life and play with your kids, and take in the shopping, and go up the stairs without the aches and pains you’ve maybe become used to.
The most important thing to do is go slowly, and pay lots of attention to your form to make sure you’re doing the exercises in a safe manner and targeting the correct muscles.
You will find videos for all exercises explaining how to do them, showing the correct form, as well as the most common mistakes people make with the different exercises.
My exercise history isn’t showing, why?
If it’s your first week in a new workout program, you may notice the exercise history doesn’t show even if you’ve completed the exercise before. Please wait until the second round of your program and you will be able to see your exercise history.
Also, please make sure to enter both your weight used, and number of reps on every set that you do to ensure the exercise is recorded as completed.
Your Personal Best for a specific exercise will always be visible in that exercise. It may not be visible in your workouts, if the workout split has been changed. We want to compare the performance in specific exercises under the same conditions every week.
For example:
- Your current workout split is 4 days, and in that workout, you can see your PBs for a Bench Press and Back Squat.
- You change your workout split to 3 days, but you still have Bench Press and Back Squats in your workout. In this situation, your PBs for these exercises from the previous split will not be visible in the workouts.
- However, you are able to view your ultimate PBs for these exercises by going to Bench Press and Back Squat exercise page.
What does my check-in involve?
Your weekly check-ins are your way of seeing your weekly progress in digestible reports. They’re compiled of:
- Weekly averages from your daily tracking
- Your wins from the previous week
- Your struggles and your plan to overcome them
- Questions on stress levels and digestion
- Check-in photos
- Body measurements
- Record of workouts you’ve completed outside of your Glean workout program
If you’re on the Group Coaching plan, the check-ins are for your own personal consumption only, and they allow you to look back over time and see the progress you’ve made with Glean.
If you’re on the 1:1 Coaching plan, your coach will review your check-in every week and give you direction on how best to overcome your difficulties, and achieve your goals.
What apps can I connect to Glean?
Glean allows you to connect to a wide range of apps to allow you to easily track your adherence to your goals. Some apps are used for tracking activity such as steps and sleep, and other apps are for tracking your nutrition.
Activity:
- Apple Health
- Google Fit
- Garmin
- Fitbit
- Samsung Health
Nutrition:
- MyFitnessPal
- Nutracheck
Currently, we do not have an option to connect smart scales to the Glean App, but we are hoping to expand our offer in the near future.
If an app you’d like to connect to isn’t available, please let us know at appsupport@gleanapp.com and we can explore the possibility of adding it in the future.
If you are experiencing issues with syncing of your data via one of the Connected Apps, there might be a workaround for you.
As an example, we will assume that you are having issues with syncing Fitbit data to the Glean App. The potential workaround for this would be to connect up your Fitbit Account to Google Fit.
Once your data is successfully loading onto Google Fit, you can connect that app to Glean in the Connected App Settings. This will mean your data goes from Fitbit > Google Fit > Glean, rather than directly from Fitbit to Glean. However, the functionality should still be the same, and once set up, you should not have to do any more manual entries.
If your problem persists, please do not hesitate to give us a shout at appsupport@gleanapp.com, and we'll do our best to find a fix for this issue.
Can I save Workouts offline so I don’t need to have internet access at the gym?
At present it isn’t possible to save Workouts to access them offline, however we are hoping to add that functionality to the app in a future update.
For the moment if you have no access to the internet while at the gym, we would recommend taking some screenshots or screen recordings of the exercises if you have any doubts on how to do them.
You can also practice the movement at home without any weights or equipment in order to familiarise yourself with how you’ll be moving your body.
Can I mark videos I’ve already watched?
Of course! When you open any video, you’ll see a green eye icon in the top right corner. After watching, simply click the eye icon and it will change into a green tick. When you return to the video list, you’ll see that video marked with a green tick to show you have watched it.
